This is not my original creation of this free plugin, but rather an enhanced version of it. This plugin was earlier based on a version that was found  at: wordpressconnect.xxxx.

However it seems that wordpressconnect guys made a rip off an existing plugin and removed some vital functions in the administration and removed the original creators name from it, thus violating the GPL when not keeping that info intact.

So now my version is based on the Original source with full author credits. The original plugin is at: http://www.warkensoft.com/php-downloads/amazonfeed-wordpress-plugin/
I also poked the thieves by napping the “/AmazonPress/” in the wordpress repository, so they are now stuck with /amazon-press/ ….

I thought it was a pretty interesting plug-in, it does not create new posts but rather takes any post and displays related products based on tags, either in the beginning or under existing post.

But it lacked some features that I wanted so I have improved it.

Main function:

• Adds Amazon products based on category or post tags, when someone visits a post.
• Caches the result by xx time
• Allows for default KW search if tag result not give anything
• Sidebar widget based on KW set.amazo
• Page specific keywords control, disable plugin per post/page.
• Template based amazon product display.

Original version had support for: Amazon.com in .US, .co.UK, .CA.

My version adds functions for Amazon.de -  Germany, Amazon.co.jp – Japan, and France – Amazon.fr .

Some problems might exist with Japan and Germany, France and that is probably due to Amazon categories written in their own language.

I am not a good “coder” so that problem might continue. Maybe the original creator will enhance their code.

One function that the ripped version creators forgot to mention is the “TipFeature”, giving them up to 50% credits for the products displayed. I have not removed that function as I am not sure how to and not to break the code. I have however changed the code to include my affiliate codes instead of original authors affiliate code. That is my price for enhancing the code, I also reduced the Tip-feature  to be 20% instead of up to 50%.

Installation:

1. Upload plugin by ftp or WP admin, Activate
2. Go to Tools/AmazonPress
3. Change to your amazon ID in the options settings relevant to your country selection. You also need to have your Amazon API/AWS Key and secret code at hand.
4. Set your Search parameters.
5. Set your Display parameters and choose template.
6. Go to one blogpost and see if it has grabbed any products
7. Go back to plugin settings and check the Logs for any problems.To edit log level, use Plugins/Plugin Editor/Choose amazonpress/amazonfeedand change $amazonPressObj->debug_mode = ‘off’;     to  off/basic/all for log level.

If used as pre post feature I suggest no more than 2-3 items, if post footer then +3-7 should be ok.

The plugin is shared as it is and has no warranties of how your blog might work together with other plugins or templates. If it looks bad try other template settings.
